Winter Repair Tips

This winter has been a challenge to our skin, diet, and beauty routines. There are important changes you need to make now to look and feel your very best this spring.

Lips
Chapped lips are an annoying issue this time of year.
Gently brush your lips when you brush your teeth to remove dry flakes. Switch to a moisturizing lipstick or use a plumping gloss like Vo-Lip-Tuous (click below) over lipstick to seal and protect. The same ingredients that make most lip balms feel like they're working (such as menthol & camphor) are actually pulling moisture from lips. This leads to more cracking & the the need for more lip balm.

Skin Inflammation
Cold temperatures & brisk winds rob the skin's top layer of natural moisturizing oils. The result is chapped, red, & often swollen skin. DMAE, C, E, & Alpha Lipoic Acid are key skin protectants. To immediately calm the skin, we rely on two unusual sounding, but effective treatments. Cooled chamomile tea bags pressed gently on puffiness and chapping will work in a pinch, and if the problem is Rosacea (it resembles a breakout or highly flushed cheeks) apply a small amount of undiluted dandruff shampoo & let sit for about 5 minutes before rinsing.

Dull Complexion
Now's the time to brighten your skin and here's an easy, inexpensive insider mask that will help even out skin tone while treating acne.

The Aspirin Mask
Dissolve 3 uncoated aspirin in a quarter cup of boiling water.
Allow to cool, and then dip a cotton ball into the mixture.
Apply all over face and let set for about ten minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
